Hello Garry,
Here at Brunel we offer a Game Design BA & MA and we are about to offer a Game Studies BA, Game Art BA, and Game Programming BA starting the 2016/17 academic year. The modules with socio-cultural content are:
First year BA:
Game Studies 1: Introduction to game studies
Historical Contexts
Second year BA:
Game Studies 2: Concepts and analysis
Game Genres
Third year BA:
Game Studies 3: Socio-cultural contexts
And 4 independent project modules focusing specifically on: player studies, theory of design, business and economics of making games, and game analysis.
MA:
Concepts and analysis
Socio-cultural contexts
I'd love to see the finished data you compile and make a map of games research in the UK. Would be very useful.
Best,

Subject: [DiGRA UK] game-related programmes?
Dear all,
As is usually the case with publishers, when you pitch a book idea, they ask you to provide them with a list of programmes, course and/or modules your book might be used on.
So I was wondering if people could help me with this task by letting me know any (undergraduate or postgraduate) programmes, course and/or modules you know of that teach about the social and cultural aspects of video gaming?
I think this is a resource that might be of value to many of us, and I’m certainly happy to share this list once I’ve complied it.
Please email me at: g.crawford at salford.ac.uk<mailto:g.crawford at salford.ac.uk>
Many thanks!
Garry.
