==== WORKSHOPS AT ACE 2013 ====

The ACE 2013 Committee invites submissions of proposals for Workshops at
the Advances in Computer Entertainment conference, to be held in Twente,
Netherlands, November 13th-15th, 2013. Conference workshops typically
provide hands-on activities and/or valuable in-depth discussions of
specific topics in computer entertainment technology. If you are working
in an emerging area in entertainment computing, please consider
organizing a workshop. They are an opportunity to move a new field
forward and build a community. These workshops may consist of both
invited and contributed talks, hands-on activities, discussions, and
other collaborative activities that will highlight exciting new
developments and currents trends of research.

==== DATE AND VENUE ====

ACE 2013 will take place in Bad Boekelo, the Netherlands, and partially
at the University of Twente. Depending on the number and type of
submitted workshop proposals, workshops may take place during one of the
three conference days, or during a special ACE 2013 Workshop Day on the
Tuesday immediately preceding the regular conference.

==== PUBLICATION ====

The organizers of accepted workshops will be offered the opportunity to
contribute a short abstract to the conference proceedings (4 pages
Springer format). Possible publication of workshop contributions is the
responsibility of the workshop organizers.

==== SUBMISSION ====

Proposals for workshops are submitted through the conference submission
system EasyChair at
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ace2013netherlands. A
workshop proposal is a 2 page PDF containing at least the following
information:

* Who will organize / present the workshop?
* What is the workshop, and how does the workshop contribute to ACE?
* How long does the workshop take? We generally expect workshops to take
half a day, but if this is too long or too short, please let us know.
* What requirements does the workshop have?
* Does the workshop involve paper submissions from participants? If so,
how will these be published?

The conference organization will take care of a room with internet and
coffee and tea during breaks. Accepted workshops will also be announced
on the ACE 2013 web page; workshop organizers are encouraged to also
maintain a more complete web page about the workshop.

Proposals will be evaluated by the ACE 2013 Committee based on the
relevance and significance of the workshop activities and potential
interest to the conference attendees.

==== THE CONFERENCE ====

ACE has become the leading scientific forum for dissemination of
cutting-edge research results in the area of entertainment computing.
Interactive entertainment is one of the most vibrant areas of interest
in modern society and is amongst the fastest growing industries in the
world. ACE 2013 will bring together leading researchers and
practitioners from academia and industry to present their innovative
work and discuss all aspects and challenges of interactive entertainment
technology, in an exciting, cultural, and stimulating environment.

ACE is by nature a multi-disciplinary conference, therefore attracting
people across a wide spectrum of interests and disciplines including
computer science, design, arts, sociology, anthropology, psychology, and
marketing. The main goal of ACE is to stimulate discussion in the
development of new and compelling entertainment computing and
interactive art concepts and applications. All ACE participants are
encouraged to present work they believe will shape the future, going
beyond the established paradigms, and focusing on all areas related to
interactive entertainment.
