<div dir="ltr">Hi all,<div><br></div><div>Here is the report from last week's meeting. If anyone has anything to add to this, or it's not clear, please let me know. We will then get this and the previous proceedings onto the main website. I will start a separate strand for committee volunteers; please feel free to come forwards and suggest your area! as discussed, these might be very specific (eg. Bristol and Avon), or much larger (South West England) according to need and density. It may also be that people want to share this role in some instances. I will then pool these and add all the nominations / volunteers to a Survey Monkey. </div>
<div><br></div><div>DiGRA UK meeting.</div><div><br></div><div>The group discussed the findings of the workshop (see previous mail), and agreed that a more open approach to events than simply seminars was a useful way to proceed. This will also enable us to support different aspects of gaming in the UK, and to support scholars through a variety of means.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Membership.</div><div><br></div><div>Several options were discussed, with the conclusion that Institutional membership might be a viable option for institutions that wished to host DiGRA events. This would also enable non-members to attend (at present the chapter wishes to encourage as many people as possible to attend, and to broaden our network).</div>
<div><br></div><div>Action: EMS has mailed DiGRA in order to ascertain who is covered by Institutional Membership (the place or the people?)</div><div>Action: ME has investigated the possibilties for a bank account and related financial requirements.</div>
<div><br></div><div>The Committee.</div><div><br></div><div>The committee will be responsible for making decisions regarding forthcoming DiGRA events and other matters as arising<br></div><div><br></div><div>The committee needs to comprise a relatively flexible group of people, including the current host institution, who will be responsible for chairing each meeting.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Committee members will be formed from area representatives. These may be relatively specific, since games studies groups often cluster together, and individuals should feel free to propose their own / negotiate with others to provide appropriate coverage of the UK. </div>
<div><br></div><div>We will solicit applications for this shortly and will use a Survey Monkey for voting.</div><div><br></div><div>Other roles are also required, and again we will solicit these via the newsgroup and Facebook page.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Mark Eyles has volunteered to become Treasurer, and is currently acting in this role.</div><div>Nia Wearn has volunteered to become Secretary and is currently acting in this role.</div><div>Ashley Brown has volunteered to manage the website and is currently acting in this role. Ashley also currently sits on the International Board.</div>
<div>Esther MacCallum-Stewart is the current acting Chair after the first event at the DCRC, and is also happy to work to diffuse e-mails and other correspondence as necessary (this is primarily because it is coming through me at present).</div>
<div><br></div><div>Dissemination.</div><div><br></div><div>It was agreed that all DiGRA events should produce proceedings in some form. However, the mode of this was up to the host organisation and therefore might comprise of video, streaming, written proceedings, reports or presentations as appropriate. Again this is to enable a variety of outputs to emerge in line with the requirements of each host organisation.</div>
<div><br></div><div>It was also agreed that expanding the profile of DiGRA UK is of key importance at this point, in order to develop the profile of games and Game Studies in the UK.</div><div><br></div><div>Since the meeting, we have reconnected with the DCRC DiGRA UK website which was purpose built in 2012. This needs some updating but is available as a resource, should we need it. </div>
