Conference Focus: Public and Global Health Computer Science and Digital Health for Emergency, Disaster and Humanitarian Contexts

Everything is affected by the digital revolution. The opportunities of interdisciplinary digital health research and computer science to dramatically improve public health and wellbeing of individuals and populations globally are extraordinary. Recent technological advances enabled by the creation of real-time big data streams, social media, participatory and context-aware systems and infectious disease modelling, are the focus of public health informatics with the aim to achieve an integration with the existing national and international surveillance services.

Topics include but are not restricted to:
- Real-time data analytics and mobile technologies for emergency and humanitarian contexts
- Big data analytics and for public health surveillance and epidemic intelligence
- Crowdsourcing and participatory surveillance

The poster and demo session is an excellent opportunity to see and discuss upcoming research and
demonstrate an ongoing implementation of a new concept. Submissions of 500 words and a short
title are invited.

*** CALL FOR PhD STUDENTS FOR PhD Track ***

Working on a PhD in Digital Health? Come get invaluable advise from a panel of top academics and practitioners!
The PhD Student Track is designing to provide high quality feedback to doctoral students by offering an
opportunity to students to present their work to a group of mentors and peers. Students currently pursuing a
PhD in a field related to digital health are invited to submit progress reports of up to 2 pages. They should
clearly outline the project, its novelty and significance, and provide at least one result from ongoing work.

*** FORMAT AND OUTPUT ***
Posters and demos will be introduced in an oral session (only a few minutes per authors) and presented in the interactive session on Monday 3rd July 2017 allowing networking and discussions over a glass of wine. PhD Track takes place on Sunday 2nd July 2017 and will include presentation of the research and mentoring in a supportive environment.

Posters, demos, and submitted PhD reports at this call will NOT to be published in the ACM proceedings but featured on the website and in the abstracts book distributed at the conference. At least one co-author must register for the full conference to be included in the programme.
