Please indicate the Player Satisfaction Special Session field when submitting your paper. Paper submission deadline: August 15, 2008. Special Session Description: CIG'08 special session on Player Satisfaction will be the third event in a series started with two successful workshops in the field: The first workshop on Adaptive Approaches for Optimizing Player Satisfaction in Computer and Physical Games in conjunction with the Simulation of Adaptive Behavior (SAB) conference in 2006 and the workshop on Optimizing Player Satisfaction held on July 6-8, 2007, in conjunction with the Artificial Intelligence and Interactive Digital Entertainment (AIIDE-07) conference sponsored by AAAI. Our objective for holding this special session at CIG?08 is to initiate/boost the game AI community's and game developers? interest on the study, development and evaluation of methodologies for modeling and augmenting player satisfaction. An additional goal of the event is to encourage a dialog among researchers in AI, human-computer interaction, affective computing and psychology disciplines who investigate dissimilar methodologies for improving game-play experiences. Furthermore, we expect this event to yield a better understanding of state-of-the-art approaches for improving player satisfaction in games. Research areas relevant to Player Satisfaction include, but are not limited to, the following: Player Satisfaction Modeling: o Empirical Models o Psychological Models o Cognitive Models o Affective Models Optimizing Player Satisfaction o CI approaches o Adaptive learning Important Dates: August 15, 2008: Paper submissions September 15, 2008: Decision Notification October 15, 2008: Camera-ready submission December 15, 2008: Symposium start For further details on previous events please visit: SAB'06 Workshop, Rome: http://www.mip.sdu.dk/~georgios/gamesWorkshop AIIDE'07 workshop: http://www.mip.sdu.dk/~georgios/AIIDE07Workshop Georgios N.
