JOB OPENING: FULLTIME PROJECT RESEARCHER
in the field of new media and ICT
The IBBT research group for Media& ICT (IBBT-MICT) of the Department of Communication Studies, Ghent University, Belgium, seeks to fill a fulltime position as project researcher in the field of new media and ICT.
Job description
- You conduct research into the experience and effectiveness of learning games within the interdisciplinary Games @ School (G@S) project
- You perform high-level quantitative data-analysis using software packages such as SPSS and AMOS
- You write research reports and scientific publications
- You become an active member of a dynamic and international team of researchers
- You actively take part in the organization of the research unit
- You collaborate with colleagues with different disciplinary backgrounds and with other organizations and companies
- You support the teaching and organization of the Department of Communication Studies
Profile
- PhD or Master in Communication Studies, Psychology, Educational Sciences, Sociology or other relevant degree at Master level or above
- Previous experience with new media and ICT user research is considered a strong plus
- Strong expertise in methods for sociological, psychological or pedagogical research in general and for user research in particular
- Experience with experimental research (design, organization and data analysis)
- Strong skills in various techniques and software packages for statistical analysis
- An active interest in ICT and new media, including digital games and serious gaming
- Strong academic writing skills
- Academic grades and/or previous scientific publications are a plus
- Enthusiastic and dynamic personality, strong team spirit
