2018 ACM Interaction Design and Children (IDC<http://idc-2018.org/>) Conference

[cid:425eef5f-593c-4652-b96a-851b580a8ae1]?

Given the enormous potential of tangible interfaces for involving children in co-creation practices, this workshop aims at analysing and reflecting on the possibilities afforded by TUIs to support co-creation processes not only during the design phase of the technology but extending the creative process into the 'use time'.

We invite researchers working on tangible interfaces, child-computer interaction, and interaction designers to join us at the 2018 ACM Interaction Design and Children (IDC) Conference to critically reflect on these aspects.

**IMPORTANT DATES
Submission of contributions: 15 April
Notification of acceptance: 26 April
Workshop: 19 June

**How to join the workshop
We solicit participants to submit a paper in ACM Sigchi Extended Abstract format (2-4 pages) describing their interest on co-creation and their experience in any aspect related to co-creation in the context of tangible interfaces for children (e.g. co-design, creativity in building and playing with tangibles,...). We encourage participants to submit work in the form of demos or videos, accompanied by a description and its relationship with co-creation according to their own view. The workshop will consist of presentations to discuss and create common ground and ideation tasks combining backgrounds in working groups.

** About the Workshop
Invited speaker: Kreg Hanning (LifeLong Kindergarten group, MIT MEDIA LAB<https://www.media.mit.edu/people/khanning/overview/>)

Kreg's work centers on the development of new tools and activities to promote physical tinkering-that is, new ways to engage children in creative explorations through physical construction. As a member of the Scratch Team, Kreg has developed many Scratch extensions, enabling children to use Scratch for controlling hardware devices, accessing online data, and connecting with web services. Through Scratch extensions, Kreg hopes to provide children with new opportunities to think about, and interact with, the world around them.
