Subject: [Dutch-chapter] Call for papers: Game Studies in Media & Communication

Dear all,

The open access journal Media & Communication is inviting contributions to a special issue to be published in June 2018 with the name Games Matter? Current Theories and Studies on Digital Games and edited by Julia Kneer and myself. We welcome a broad range of topics, and aim for the special issue to provide an overview of advances within the field of games research. Examples include:

  *   The social and psychological uses and effects of video games;
  *   The cultural affordances, uses, and meanings of games;
  *   Serious games;
  *   The perception of games;
  *   Design research in the context of games;
  * Users' motivations and emotional, cognitive, and psychophysiological experiences in games.

Please check out the flyer attached here, or follow this link for more information: http://www.cogitatiopress.com/mediaandcommunication/pages/view/nextissues#gamestudies
Note that abstracts are due July 15th, 2017. The deadline for full papers after that is December 31st, 2017.

Do not hesitate to contact me or Julia (kneer at eshcc.eur.nl<mailto:kneer at eshcc.eur.nl>) if you want to know more.

Kind regards (also on behalf of Julia),
Ruud Jacobs
